We'll start posting show lists for shows and gigs that are on the calender here by date and event name. Example- "Friday, August 29th- Luxury Homes Magazine". This will give everyone a good idea of what we will be preforming for that gig, how it should run, and what YOU need to practice.
All you will have to do is look in the General Forum for the date and event name.
Remember every show or gig that we perform at is a chance to show our audience who we are and what we are representing. It is your Kuleana (personal responsibility) to make sure you always come prepared and ready to show the best of our cultures through dance.
For every single show or gig dancers should come looking their best! For categories that have a "this or that" we will specify the look for that particular show or gig along with the show list.
FACE-
Eye make-up:
Natural (browns and golds) smokey eye or Regular (charcoals, silvers, and black) smokey eye.
Fake eyelashes (If you are uncomfortable with fake eyelashes, you must have enough mascara on to make the lashes look dramatic)
Eyeliner (Optional)
Foundation:
You may put on full coverage foundation if you like, but you must at least have a light powder on. If gives off a more finished look as well as absorbs sweat and keeps you from looking shiny while dancing.
Blush/ Bronzer:
Keep it natural. That means light on the blush and keep the bronzer brown with a gold tint, no one likes the orange look.
Lips:
Pink or Red. It should be noticeable, not a sheer tint or lip balm.
HAIR-
Should always be crimped or braided so that there are waves in the hair. If you have shorter hair, you should look into temporary extensions or a wig. Short hair is classified as hair above your shoulder blade. Easy way to tell: Put your hand behind your back and reach towards your neck. You should feel your shoulder blade protruding from your back. If your hair cannot reach your shoulder blade, it is too short.
NAILS-
Pink or Red. It doesn't have to be freshly done, but please make sure that they are presentable. We do not like seeing chipped up fingers and toes... its distracting.
"E kuahui like i ka hana. 'A'ohe hana nui ke alu 'ia."
Let everybody pitch in and work together. No task is too big when done by all.
